<p>The BBC is reporting about industry <a target="_blank" href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6688675.stm" title="DKIM">backing for a tool to battle spam </a></p>
<p>It&#8217;s called DomainKeys Identified Mail and works by using digital signatures.</p>

<p>Nice idea in practise but first thing that sprang to mind was</p>
<p>&#8220;What happened to Sender ID &amp; SPF?&#8221;</p>
<p>There is a page on the site that shows <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dkim.org/deploy/supporters.html" title="Backing">who is backing the standard </a>and you&#8217;ll notice there is no Microsoft or Google on the list.</p>
<p>Will this be an idea that comes to the fore? or will it just fall away and everyone will forget about it in six months?</p>
